The Last Meters of A Marathon
“We’ve got to make sure that people understand the choices that are at stake.” (Barack Obama)
With this clever quote I wish you an exciting last couple of days before an election that will make history, no matter how it turns out… So do you understand what’s at stake for you, lieber Reader?

WHAT? The US is having an election? When did this happen?
Haha. I’m going to be watching the polls closely tonight because:
a) This is history in the making (The Bush saga will finally come to an end..ABOUT FREAKING TIME!!)
b) There will be nothing else playing on the American channels..haha
Hoping to see Obama win, I think a change of pace will do the country and the world economy some good.
I always thought that Austria was behind with US news, our distance takes a whole lot more traveling – crossing the pond.
ad a, IT IS HISTORY IN THE MAKING. No matter what result Americans will celebrate (in case of Obama as elected president) or put up with (in the unlikely case it’s going to be Mc Blankety Blank Cain)
ad b, I only wish I had CNN. I have to cope with the ORF (Austrian broadcaster), come on, I want the news in English (hope they broadcast live from CNN :P) and I want them to be American… :)
Haha.. This is quite the contrast, because I hate the American reporters, and you want to see American reporters. :D
I think Obama will take it, and that’s going to be exactly what the doctor ordered for America. *fingers crossed*
Not sure if you can follow the election online at CNN, maybe they’ll have streaming video? Have you looked into that?
Oh I just love the American reporters: (here an non-election example, though very similar in reporting style):
We now see LIIIIIVE what goes on in BLABLABLA. If I’m not mistaken I should now be able to talk to Johhhhn Mayer, aaat the veryyyy location…. Hello Johhhhhn. Can you give us an idea of what it is like to be in the middle of a hurricane……… Hello Suuuuuesan. We now sense a liiiiitle bit of a windy weather storm coming up RIGHHHHHHHHHHT behind me. However, authorities claim it is still safe. *Pictures of Johhn blown away in a second*
So yeah, I have limited internet, 1 more gig until LIKE CHRISTMAS. SO I have to save a couple of bytes so I can keep blogging. No just kidding. 1 gig for one more week, so not a lot of video streaming for Philipp this week. :(
I get way to much excitement out of my news reporter description, aren’t it?
Hi Phil,
You will be happy to know that I voted for Obama! Last night I was at an election party watching the news and us Americans are basically very excited about this change. Parties in the street, hope in the spirit and proactive citizens who feel their issues matter.
Just a quick update from your American friend.
ps- Hi to Connie!
Thank you Katie for contributing with your election feel and experience. I am really glad that Florida turned out to vote democratically. I am sure America made the right choice. There hasn’t been such a talented politician in a long time. Critics say he won’t be able to hold all his promises (what politican could possibly do that?), but let’s be honest: He CANNOT BE WORSE than Bush. Change America wanted, Change America got. This is huge. As Puraz put it: History in the making.
I didn’t get much sleep last night, since the most exciting points where at the exact moments where normal people have their REM phases of sleep, so don’t be too tough on me with spelling and gramm-uh, (haha) in this one.
I’ve been hearing tons of radio shows with American’s who haven’t slept all night, and don’t care. They are happy to finally have someone that will try to do what’s right for the country rather than someone who’s been trying to finish his father’s unfinished businesses.
There is an air of optimism everywhere, which is a relief, and might help the economy, but the markets don’t seem to agree for the moment.
Well, one thing is important: people understood what was at stake.
Obama will do fine, he has the support of the American people… The stock markets will follow suit since his ideas really assure a long term recovery from this bullshit crisis…
