Indeed Not Cool Enough

No comment. Or wait, a laptop under 1000? It still runs Vista right?

These comics don’t come as a surprise. Listed by time and intensity of aggressiveness:

Superhero Bowl

Hope you had a fun night watching the Super Bowl. It’s Christmas and Easter on the same day for people that are into great ads. Check them out on youtube.com/adblitz and vote for the best Superbowl themed commercial. Voting open until Febuary 4.

Great ad reminded me that I need to catch up on Heroes.

When You Think It Can’t Be Worse

This is what happens when you think an advertising approach hit rock-bottom. Before you know it, the situation will get worse and is very likely to result in the maximized nuisance concentration. I guess this could be part of Austrian Advertising Landschaft (a series where I show great Austrian adversiting), but sometimes you also need to point out the pointless. Kids, please ask your parents before you watch birdie poop like that… [via brandstaetter]

If I had been invited to the making of this video, God forbid, I could not have guaranteed for anything.

Remember I ranted about the Orange spot? Boy… Telering commercials make me wanna poke my eyes out, rip my ears off and what not else,… So maybe, only maybe, the Orange spots aren’t that bad, but just because the new bottom of Austrian advertising quality has been redefined.

All White MC Jesus Gone Divinely Pimp

Finally. I’m so glad I found the titles of the song featured in this new and awesome Renault commercial (English version found only) called “It’s Time To Change.” Do you remember when you said that girls had fleece (is that spelled correctly)? And you’d never get a mobile? Or have kids? Multiple yes there.

The music in the background, it’s been haunting me. Following me. Exploited semi-serious damages in my brain. Had me sleepless last night (that and the super annoying stuffed nose of mine). Why do commercials do that to me?

What you’re going to see, basically, is an all white dressed Jesus impersonation of best quality that some might say competes and beats the “I will survive” Jesus gone crazy in (? it appears) New York. What a pimp version of Jesus. Love the song. Love the Jesus. Also available in quite nice remixes. My favorite: Divine (Danger Remix) by Sébastien Tellier. And yes, iTunes Store’s your friend.

Last but not least, can you believe this was the French entry for the Eurovision Song contest. Since when do I like that sort of crap?

Together, We’re Schizophrenic

Ich bin die Mutter, die mich verhätschelt [...] Ich bin mein Freund Klaus, der mich besser kennt als ich selbst (WTF?) [...] Ich bin die kleine Schwester die mich dafür hasst (even more WTF?!) [...] Ich bin Maria [...] etc.

Remember my notes on the acquisition of One by Orange? Whereas their spots have sort of refreshed the Austrian “Werbelandschaft” (DE, commercial landscape), I call out for a little change of their slogan which will cause a sudden urge of identification in several additonal Austrians’ minds. Instead of “Zusammen sind wir mehr” (DE, together we are more), I’d go for a “Together, we’re schizophrenic.” I came up with this idea in an interesting state of mind during the Indie Club in Avalon, Krems. Heard “In Five Years Time” and the people surrounding me simultaneously went “Ich bin Klaus.”

I am pretty much everyone. Take that!

My mommy (I) and me (also I)... I am pretty much everyone. Take that!

How about that? Also I wonder what Freud would say about the above quoted statements of the guy who claims to be several personalities he came across with in life and further people he will encounter later in future. Maternal issues? Guess so (since the ad starts with his mother coddling him).

Final note: A lot of German youngest come to Austria to study. No news in that, but I saw dozens of German accented people in the Bim (AUT: tram) babbling on their orange square branded cell or at least talking about signing this plan since it will save multiple Euros.

The Answer Is Blowing

Nice ad found by Jane! I wanted to post this video a long time and tripped over it at some point. There, tell me how long it takes you to know what this ad is about… (find out after the jump)

Orange Square Swallows One Fat Blue Donut

One is growing into Orange. There better be no political implication with that (in regard of the Nationalrat-election coming up next weekend), but other than this hope, I have to admit that I am a kind of geek stoked by what they will make out of this rebranding from fat-lettered one (the blue doughnut)into reallysimplisticorange square. I really liked their campaign and yesterday I just saw a really good spot. I look forward how they are going to reform the presentation (their font style, their ads, their leaflets) and the public image of Orange Austria.
