When The High School Myth Falls Apart

Here we go. Somebody started questioning the real intentions of a Pep Rally. The American High School way of enhancing competition with opponent schools. Most of the time this leads to rivalry and kids getting in a drunk fight over some cheerleader. Oops, I must have slipped into some sort of cliques prejudice (Follow this link and you will “experience” one of my blog’s most wanted entry of all time).

See this comic by xkcd.com how the Kindom High Schoolia falls apart:

Too Often I Wake Up Shaking

Too often I wake up having an inner monologue with me, myself and I , “Wait I am way out of high school, I kind of believe I graduated (got my Matura, whatever)”. So why do I wake up thinking I have to hand in a German essay on Feminism in Austrian literature again? Right, because not doing your homework got burned into my subconsciousness as a bad bad thing to do years ago. Also, I remember having this dream that I had to somehow being forced to redo my Matura in a Matura 2.0 fashion. Boy, boy,… Who says Austrian schools aren’t efficient. They still have people wake up shaking with fear.

Haven’t had a “nightmare” about university, probably too recent for it to manifest in my gray matter.

Sometimes I Miss High School

Sometimes, only sometimes I feel like high school wasn’t that bad after all. There were several eloquent discussions that I now have to hold on Facebook. See? It’s a good thing to get involved in status updates, because practice proofs that results have ultimate potential to be funny in the end.

Who’s attending Sandra’s Christmas [...] gig thingy? December 21. 0600 pm. At the Cenario (Tiefer Graben 21, Vienna). Unfortunately there might be a appointment collision because my auntie has a Gluehwein party that day. We’ll see.

The Myth of High School Cliques

American teenage subcultures are featured in the majority of American teenage movies. As a result, teenage movies are loaded with stereotypes. We’ve seen American Pie, we’ve watched Mean Girls and most Europeans love to watch American TV productions. You name them. Shows and movies dealing with teenage troubles automatically are set in a world that is divided into social groups, the so-called cliques.

I Got 30/100 – Fancy Word Savvy?

BOSTON, Massass – The editors of the American Heritage® dictionaries published a list of words that every high school graduate (Abkömmling einer High School) should know. Check out the list and see if you know some of those.

Dude, I got 30 out of 100. I am nearly 1/3 of a high school graduate. Anyhooo, for those who get less than 20, I’d suggest, you better go and study those dirty version of Scrabble. By the way, I did so much better in understanding the dirty Scrabble words (wonder why…), but still I couldn’t figure out what HOTCARL is supposed to mean.

Link One: My question is, what is a “HOTCARL“? And I am actually glad, that I don’t know exaclty what “JELLY” consists of!

Link Two: “NOOKIE” – Sounds cute, dirty and naughty to me at the same time!

Link Three: This is a mixed version. Seems like fun to me.

High School Cliques vs Office Cliques

Sometimes it is just amazingly funny. What a coincident: I had a presentation in my English class onAmerican High School. Thanks indexed. What can we learn from this? High School never ends. Never. Check out the song “High School Never Ends” by Bowling For Soup (lyrics).

Ergo: High School Never Ends...

Want to read more on American High School Cliques and the social pattern. Read my blog post called The Myth of American High Schools.

Save Ferris and the OC

save ferris

My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.

SO PLEASE SAVE FERRIS (The Orange County just got a plus point on my list!)
Oh and speaking of the devil: No wonder they killed off her character… She’s so repetetive.
