Light Your Home The “Cool” Way

CFL (compactfluorescent lamp)bulbs explained in plain English. Go ahead, it saves money (CFLs have higher “life expectancy”) and the environment (use less CO2 heavy energy), what more could you possibly ask for (warm ice on a stick, maybe)?

A sexy CFL Bulb

The only thing that is really weird about this video is the number of “now that’s cool” and “this is cool” remarks done by the presenter. I love the XYZ in Plain English series. And these Flickr image results for CFL….

One final thought: Are you watching movies on VRC? Well it should be “cool” with me, if you have all your regular light bulbs dimmed or even better switched off.

Die Fälscher im Open Air Kino

3. Juli. Freiluftkino (Open Air Display) in der Kremser Filmgalerie. ImKino beim Kesselhaus – Filmgalerie.

Continue reading

Lingo Bingo #4: Everyday Language

Yellow people by Catbagan on flickr.com (scroll down for credits)In today’s edition of Lingo Bingo, we will cover some commonly used idioms in everyday’s language. Im sogenannten Alltag lässt man es gerne mal laufen und greift auf bekannte Sprachbilder zurück. So that’s exactly what we are going to talk about. Are there certain “Floskeln” (empty phrases that are pretty hackneyed) that both the German speaking and English speaking word use repetitively? Continue reading

Where’s Georgy?

Dealing with the question of where the money comes from once it ends up in my wallet is not the very first thing I’d do. Usually. But during my stay in the US of A, I came across with the depicted 1-Dollar-Bill. The Currency Tracking Study is obviously researching on where the money goes and comes from. Here is the statistic for the Dollar bill that I got at Fresh Planet, Santa Cruz (I crossed out the serial number to ensure that nobody messes up the tracking):Where is George Programme Continue reading

Future Is Calling Indeed

Today’s the day of getting things done for me. I have already made an important phone call with the Zivildienstagentur, which is the centeral coordination office of community service in all of Austria. Anyway, my social service job from January 2008 til September 2008 is confirmed. I look forward to being an ambulance man, yet, I am working on not throwing up when seeing blood. Kidding! :)
Another things that I need to get done soon-ish is my job for September til November. It would be pretty cool to get a job for the time that is left before I do community service since I do not want to sit at home all by myself. On top of that, I want to get this great Macbook and heck no, I don’t have the money left since my master-card (which I totally maxed-out, hahaha!!!) bills are steadily being delivered in my mailbox.
So anyway, keep you guys posted on that.

Picture by Flickr User desenfocadoflickr. Right next to the pile of Euros (that everyone would maximise) You can see a hint of a beer glass. Being back home, I am allowed to drink. It was fun, right Miki?

All kind of Frauds

Money makes the world go round - So it’s no coincidence that people won’t stop lying about it. Where would Mr Elsner’s Money Affaires be placed? Where can we find your bank account in this graph?

Dig A Hole and Save A Flight

You can’t afford your flight to Australia, New Zealand or to a place somewhere down under? There is a solution where you don’t have to bother with the matyrium of security checkst, airport taxes, getting in line, … You just need a few muscles. And this way of traveling, is very green.

By the way, I love Google Maps/Earth. (Oh, I forgot to mention that this is the location where my digging would end up at – from Dross)

Check out digholes.comEnlarge the Map and watch the digging

Tough Message

Sister Mary Bernard: Money can’t buy happiness.

Gabrielle: Sure it can. That’s just a lie we tell poor people to keep them from rioting
