Coldplay Thank Their Friends

If you haven’t already read the announcement, go download the live album of Coldplay for free on their website. We want more of these special treats for loyal fans. A sign that music can be free and still doesn’t necessarily have to lack quality. That’s what we want. Both good and free/affordable/reasonably priced music.

Free music. I saw you jump at it.

Collaboration Via Music

Vault the brick wall.

This is one beautiful piece of collaboration via the universal medium of music. It shows that music doesn’t know color, doesn’t know nations and can even jump over the brick wall of culture that is still there. Rock solid, it divides people. Even though we have been connected for so long. The contributors to this music video show us what to do. Vault the brick wall. It’s what a monkey would do, so why not give it a try.

Playing For Change.

Also I recommend this video War/No More Trouble.

Breaking The Silence… Susan Boyle Style

This video appears to be suitable in order to break the silence caused by another exam week coming up. Studying at the library we sent each other fun videos and pictures to reach a maximum level of distraction and that Youtube link most certainly had me shiver. Congrats to this Lady called Susan Boyle. If you haven’t heard from her already, you need to see this:

See Susan Boyle’s contribution to the show Britains Got Talent. (For some reason the uploader has disabled embedding. Please click here. I know that’s a real speed bumper in our internet surfing habits, but for Susan Boyle, you find yourself doing pretty much everything. So go. Jump. Do it.

What do we learn? Never, ever, judge a book by its covers. I did and I feel terriby guilty. On my mind when she talks about her cats, “Of course she has cats”. I’m terribly sorry. Now that a cheesy thing to end a post with. Off I go.

Question Mark Written All Over You

???

???

No more. You know how they say there is no stupid question? Well strictly speaking, there are stupid questions that can make a generally stupid person look even more ridiculous. My elite audience will know what I mean. Anyway,so here’s a stupid question: What’s the exact opposite of a stupid question?

Right, a smart question. A great question. A question humanity has been occupied with for a long, long time. Well, check this out: A collection of the Greatest 101 questions. My favorites:

What’s a hiccup? Why do identical twins have different fingerprints? Is there an easy way to prove the Earth is round? Do hot drinks cool you down? What would happen if there were no Moon?

Knew them all, I assume, my elitist dearest reader?

30 of The Best Photo Album Cover

If I only were the guy who designed one of the following best photo album cover picked by American Photo, then, then… (The author passed out thinking of all the possibility there)

Which one do you like? Follow the link to see an enlarged version of the album art.

(The author regains consciousness and gets back on track of life) I obviously wouldn’t be writing this blog but rather be the owner of a deserted island somewhereMaldavian. So let’s be glad I’m not that talented and look thru these master pieces of photo album covers. Checking this out I came to the conclusion that good music iscovered in good art apparently.

My favorites: Feist, the Beatles and Ohio Players. You?

SAT is Star Trek Day, 09 is Star Trek Yr

Live long and prosper.

Long long before Saturday meant “Let’s Go Out And Have A Shot Or Two” Day I used to spend the entire Saturday at my favorite auntie’s place. She had cable. She was the coolest. Saturday mornings the Power Rangers were on, so there was no way around it and around 4 or so, it was Star Trek with Shattner and Co. So when I found out they were planning a movie starting next year (2009), I was more than stoked to accidently slip over on this trailer on Star Trek. Are you as excited? The cast is very similar looking to the series’ cast from the point of appearance.

And yes, I used to watch Power Rangers and Star Trek Enterprise (I didn’t care too much about all the newer versions).

Also a final note: I need to tell my English teacher at university, he outed himself as a Trekkie in our very first lesson. We were discussing the different meanings of enterprise and he was giving us hints of what not all enterprise means, and so he clearly was hinting the TV series and -- probably tooembarrassedto admit you knew “The USS Enterprise”, somebody was saying something like “Oh yeah, Star Wars” and then he immediately went with a really fierce, passionate tone: Know the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek there, Mister! In case you are one of them mixing up these entirely opposing legendary movie themes, you might want to check this comparison (and in case you are well aware of how to translate this article into Klingon, then, you also need to read this)…

Know Your Star Wars and Star Trek!

My two favorite difference is that Spock puts his toilet paper on so it rolls over the top, whereas Vader puts it the other way around. Also a main characteristic of Star Trek is that some Trekkies (the fanboys even call themselves like that) are now said to be old enough to move straight from their parents’ basement to the retirement home.

Accident, Emergency – I’ll Keep It

Accidentally I changed my wallpaper to Tina Fey vs Sarah Palin the other day when reading some news page. After panicking (at least over 50% of my screen), I decided to keep it for a while to get into a christmas election mood.

It happened. Accident. Emergency. A la Patrick Wolf

The World As Your Canvas

If you want to be really inspirational and intend to motivate someone to get out of his/her daily grind, you always try to come up with a neat metaphor. Live your life. Get up and do cartwheels. Not so good metaphors, however, the one below…

The World Is Your Canvas, Paint Your Picture On It.

For instance, if you have gotten advised that the world was your canvas and all that motivational crap, would you send a briefcase mounted with a GPS module around the world? Most people wouldn’t have done anything with that precious bit of wisdom. Erik himself didn’t even need someone to tell him to do a self-portrait of him on the biggest canvas I can come up with right now. He came up with that idea on his own. He says (in the red-letter disclaimer) that he didn’t do it in the end, but also says it’s possible. So maybe (and this in mymotivationalvoice) you should go for it. Do the (im)possible.

With the little help of a briefcase Erik from biggestdrawingintheworld.com could (have -read the disclaimer in red) drawn a self-generated self-portrait on the biggest canvas. Earth.
